CHRIST THE CHIEF SHEPHERD

There are different offices of shepherds listed in the Bible and not all Christians hold these positions. God calls those whom He will to do His work. Ephesians 4: 11-12 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. Hebrews 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus.

Those men that God calls to be pastors have to live with their own challenges in life in regard to God, church, family, and spiritual vocation. They are human just like everyone else and as a pastor figuratively put on a pedestal by their congregation. It is tough on him and his family all the while looking after the souls of the Church as a good shepherd will do. 1 Peter 5: 4 and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you (shepherds) will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.

Support your pastor, pray for him and his family, invite them over for dinner;  get to know your pastor and let him know you care for you are Christ’s sheep;  God gave you a shepherd.

1 Peter 2: 25  For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

If you have surrendered to Jesus and made Him the Lord of your life then; seek out a church, get involved, and follow your shepherd. He will teach you, disciple you and watch after your soul. Peace to you in the Lord Jesus Christ!

BUILD SPIRTUAL METTLE!

Does anyone remember what it means when someone says, “No pain, and no gain”? If we always have it easy and everything is handed to us on a silver platter doesn’t make life better. When a blacksmith works on a piece of metal he heats it at very high temperatures and hammers on it until it is shaped right. To build strong character and integrity we must be shaped the same way.  We have the perfect example of how this is accomplished by the sufferings of Jesus Christ.  Hebrews 5:8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. Yes, Jesus was the Son of God and He suffered many things to strengthen His mettle. (Word History: By the 1500s, English metal had also come to mean “the stuff one is made of, one’s character,” but there was no difference in spelling between the literal and figurative senses until about 1700, when the spelling mettle, originally just a variant of metal, was fixed for the sense “strength of character.”) Jesus Christ suffered so He understands how to help us shape our character to have divine mettle!

1 Peter 5:10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

Let Christ shape and perfect you into a fine work of spiritual character, strength, and integrity!

LIFE GIVING FAITH

When God the Father calls you to Christ and you are saved, it is not by “your faith” but by the faith and righteousness of Christ in you. God says your faith and righteousness is as a filthy rag to Him. Your faith was of the wisdom of world. So it is by the power of the faith of Christ that you are saved. Thanks to the glory of God!

When you are saved, believe in your new faith, do not fear the worlds pitfalls, be bold and fervent standing up to worldly assaults. Deal with it and be passionate for the Lord will never leave you.

The only way you can see faith is by its results!

Faith is neither tangible nor visible but you can feel and view faith by the spiritual fruits of your life. Look at yourself; scrutinize your inward person to be sure you are following Jesus who is in you. You become a living sacrifice for Christ by faith but still live in your corruptible body even though Jesus loved you so much He died for you on the cross so that you might live. In so doing God gave you a great gift, the gift of grace something you were not qualified for or deserved. Christ gave Himself because of His great love for you.

Now you must live in faith but even then it is not your greatest asset for that is reserved for love which is the greatest force of all. With Christ in you, you are filled with the love of God.

Here are eight scriptures giving insight and guidance on faith.

  • Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, … Romans 5:1
  • that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God…1 Corinthians 2:5.
  • Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong….1 Corinthians 16:13
  • For we walk by faith, not by sight….2 Corinthians 5:7
  • Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? … 2 Corinthians 13:5
  • I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. … Galatians 2:20
  • For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, … Ephesians 2:8
  • And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. …1 Corinthians 13:13

Seek faith and pursue it earnestly in Jesus Christ and your reward in heaven will be great.

God bless you!

PRAY WITH LOVE IN YOUR HEART

Ten verses to guide you in prayer

Who do we pray to? Matthew 6:6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place.
  • Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation…. Mark 14:38
  • Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man…. Luke 21:36
  • Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered…. Romans 8:26
  • I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting… 1 Timothy 2:8
  • Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed…. James 5:13-16
  • Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; … Romans 12:12
  • … pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you… Matthew 5:44
  • Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; … Philippians 4:6
  • pray without ceasing…1 Thessalonians 5:17
  • And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive. … Matthew 21:22
Prayer creates an intimate relationship with God the Father AND HE ALWAYS TAKES IT TO HEART.
I pray a blessing from God the Father for you!

WHAT IS FAITH AND RIGHTEOUSNESS

Let’s look at a brief definition of these two Christian virtues. The key word here is “brief” as the complete Holy bible is about faith and righteousness.

  • Faith is a secure and unquestioning belief in God, a trusting acceptance of God’s will and truth.

  • Righteousness is being spiritually and morally upright; without guilt or sin.

We receive salvation and hope of eternal life by the grace and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

We become a new creation different from all others in the world. We are unique as we have eternal life in us now. We will go on living even after this corruptible body we are entombed in returns to the dust of the ground. We need the righteousness of Christ in us as our righteousness is described by God as a filthy rag.  Isaiah 64:6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags. But through the grace of Christ we are made Holy, sanctified, and a temple of the Holy Spirit. The perfect, sinless body of Christ resides in us NOW. We need to be reminded of this that we are Holy, belonging to Jesus Christ, bought and paid for with the high price of His blood. We are no longer of this world. We are citizens of heaven.

Galatians 3:7-9, 14 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Romans 4:5, 11 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness

As I said earlier we need to be reminded and how are we reminded? God’s Word says by preaching!

Romans 10:14-15 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ” How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”
Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

The preaching of faith and righteousness is for all men whether they are lost or saved. We are to grow in the grace and righteousness of Jesus Christ. Those of us who are saved are all preachers of righteousness we are called to be priests of God. Spread the truth of faith and righteousness for all the earth to hear.

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

The fields are ripe for the harvest and needs many workers!

God bless your preaching!

DON’T BE A POLITICAL GRUMBLER !

political-protest

Here are the words of God that puts us back into perspective in the midst of all the talk on both sides concerning the candidates for the presidency of the United States of America. Please take note! This involves both non religious people and those who have religious beliefs.

Does this describe you?

Jude 1:16 These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage.

Politics can be used for good or bad as is often displayed by people all over this nation, but because we are blessed to live in such a free society, we can express ourselves any way we please. That is not always a good thing! The whole population of the nation who votes for their choice for president is made up of individuals who speak for themselves. What and how we speak reveals our character, personality, and qualities. This brings to the for-front the real bearing of our purpose by the verbal communication  that spews from our mouths .

James 3: 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.

I implore you to restrain from the common “political correctness” and let the goodness in your heart prevail instead of scorning the opposing candidate and whoever votes for them.

Colossians 3:8 But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth.

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but let the spirit of love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, and self control be your beacon to this nation and the free republic in which we live under God.

THE WORLD IS WATCHING!

GOD AND POLITICS

GOD AND POLITICS
Politics, politicians, candidates, voting, poles, caucuses, media, and strained emotions are heating up for various elections about to take place. These are beginning to be the uppermost thoughts in people’s minds. People can get so engrossed with politics during election season that they tend to let other very important aspects of their personal lives get shoved aside. Vote! That is not a problem, but the source of wisdom needed to make the best choices should not be ignored.

Mark 12:17 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

Romans 13:7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

Here are some reminders to help people maintain the right perspective during these important events. However, if there are people in the Church that follow different party politics, they should not let that cause division in the Church.
Galatians 6:10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

It is God who is in control of all things. Don’t forget that. He wants you to let Him guide you to make all important decisions.
Colossians 1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

Be ready to be under subjection to whomever you elect to dispense laws and enforce them no matter who wins.
Titus 3:1 Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey

Be sure to give God the glory for all the election results as He and He alone determines the winners. God always has a reason for everything He does. If we honor Him and obey Him He makes all things work out to the good even in politics.
1 Peter:13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14 or to governors,

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God

Honor those who you elect! They are there to serve you. Be honorable and they will be honorable.
1 Peter 2:17 Honor all people.

This honors God when we obey Him. After all He is the one who created all things to begin with.
Isaiah 45:12 I have made the earth, And created man on it. I — My hands — stretched out the heavens, And all their host I have commanded.
18 For thus says the LORD, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: ” I am the LORD, and there is no other.

Give thanks to God for those elected, Give God the glory.
God bless you!
